Ferrari 412 GT | £59,995
Mileage: 75,372Model History
Launched in 1973 and based on the existing 365 GTC4, the Ferrari 400 was equipped with same 4.4 litre V12 engine and shared much of the interior and suspension components. It was marketed as a gentleman's GT car, to be driven at speed through Europe on its high speed motorways.
Three years after its initial release a GT version with a manual gearbox was produced, as well as a controversial automatic version. The engine capacity was also increased at this time to 4.8 litres.
In in 1985 Ferrari unveiled the 412 and the 412 GT. Just 576 were produced with 24 manual and 64 automatics in RHD for the UK market. The engine was re-bored to 4942cc now producing 340 bhp. Other improvements included a Marelli Microplex electronic ignition, a twin-disc clutch for the rare manual examples and Bosch anti-lock brakes.
External changes included colour-coded bumpers, a revised rear boot deck to improve boot capacity and a new bumper valence that integrated the exhausts into the bodywork. The wheels were revised to accommodate the sensors for the new ABS brakes (the 412 were the first Ferrari's to be fitted with this). Production ceased in 1989 with a total of 2909 units produced since 1972.

Power steering, ABS, Air-conditioning, Electric windows, Electric mirrors, Electric seats, Blaupunkt cassette player, Electric aerial, Front and rear interior reading lights, Lockable glovebox.
Exterior
The stunning Pininfarina designed bodywork is presented in the Marrone metallic paintwork. The elegant lines and angles of the 412 are complimented by the metallic flake, still boasting a lustful shine under our studio lights. With the exception of a few expected light stone chips to the front of the car that have been carefully touch-in, the paintwork remains in fine order.
The brushed metal window trim is a subtle detail that catches your eye as you admire the car, all of which is in excellent condition throughout. With quad exhaust pipes protruding, and the famous Ferrari prancing horse badge on display, the rear view of the 412 GT is exceptional in its presence.
Interior
The interior space of the Ferrari is awash with beautiful cream leather upholstered on almost every surface. Both front seats are in excellent condition, still feeling comfortable and supportive with no sagging or damage to be found. The light leather is exceptionally clean throughout the interior, the rear seats, door cards and roof lining all look as new.
The dashboard and centre console are trimmed with contrasting brown leather which is free from any marks or sun damage. Within the centre console all the switch gear can be found laid out easily to hand and the beautifully deep set dials are all perfectly positioned for driver focus.
Other details such as the gear knob and leather bound Momo steering wheel (with Ferrari emblem proudly in place) are showing minimal signs of wear.
Engine & Transmission
The Ferrari 412 GT is powered by an all-alloy 4.9 litre V12 producing 340 bhp. With quad exhaust pipes at the rear it is needless to say, this combination produces a sensational soundtrack on any outing. The current owner Mr Jason Kay of Jamiroquai fame, has lavished attention on the mechanics of this car. A recent visit to Ferrari specialists DK Engineering at a cost of £16,000 for various maintenance work including suspension refurbishment/replacement, radiator refurbishment, manifold replacement, is a testament to how well maintained this example really is. There is also a huge documentation file with invoices present for continued maintenance work dating back almost every year since 1986.
This 412 GT is equipped with the rare 5-speed manual gearbox, only 24 UK examples were produced with the manual option.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The Ferrari sits on its original 15" Mondial alloy wheels which all remain in fine fettle with no serious scuffs or marks to be found. The wheels are shod in the correct set of Michelin TRX tyres with plenty of tread remaining.
The braking system feels strong, pulling the car up smoothly in a straight line. The brake fluid was replaced at 71k miles and calipers were recently removed, stripped and reconditioned.
History File
The Ferrari 412 GT was first registered in 1986 and sold through its supplying dealer Lancaster Garages Ltd. Leafing through this cars huge history file it is evident that it has always been maintained to a very high standard, with no expense spared. Almost every year from new can be traced with detailed invoices for service and maintenance work. More recently it has been in the capable hands of The Ferrari Centre and DK Engineering.
There is also a certificate and relevant documentation from the Ferrari Owner's Club for a 1st place award in its class at the 2009 FOC National Concours event. Almost all MOT certificates since 1992 are present, helping to verify the cars mileage.
With only 24 manual right hand drive examples imported into the UK, this 412 GT with its sleek elegant lines, is fast becoming a rare collectors classic.
