Subaru Impreza Turbo | £9,995
Mileage: 8599Model History
Based on the Subaru Legacy, the Impreza was created in November 1992. It utilized the Legacy's superb four cylinder boxer engine. Initially the Impreza was offered in either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) versions and as a four-door saloon or five-door hatchback.
The Impreza was first unveiled to the UK in 1994, initially as a five door hatchback and later as a 4 door saloon. In Europe, the WRX was introduced as the Impreza GT, and as the Impreza Turbo 2000 here in the UK. Various different models were available, with a choice of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litre engines. Configuration of the inline engine with the transmission helps minimizes body roll due to the lower centre of gravity. In 1997 Subaru decided to emphasize AWD, making it standard on every Impreza from then on.
The Impreza went on through various face-lifts, re-designs and limited editions over the years, however it is best known and most fondly remembered for its Rally dominance in the 1990's with the late driver Colin McRae. See the Impreza in action driven by Prodrive's factory team in the video HERE
