Model History

The first Evolution cars rolled of the production line at the end of 1991 and through 1992. These were to be the final homologation cars for the highly successful Lancia Rally Team.

In order to improve the handling, the Evolution 1 had a wider track front and rear than its predecessors which resulted in the already boxed arches getting even wider. The front strut top mounts were also raised to generate more grip, which resulted in the need for a strut brace to control these new forces.

External changes included, a redesigned bonnet with new air slats and new grilles in the front bumper to further assist engine cooling, an adjustable roof spoiler to aid rear down force and really emphasize the cars aggressive lines, and new 5 stud alloy wheel derived from the rally cars.

The new Integrale retained the legendary four wheel drive layout, an epicyclic centre diff with torque splitter (47% to front, 53% to rear), Ferguson viscous coupling and Torsen rear differential. The 16V engine was carried forward from the earlier car and benefited from a re-map to increase power to 210 bhp.

The results gave the desired improvements on the rally circuits with the new cars clocking times over 5% faster on both tarmac and gravel sections.

Presented in June 1993, the second Evolution version of the Delta HF Integrale featured an updated version of the 2-litre 16-valve turbo with a new water cooled Garrett turbocharger. A catalyst was also fitted to lower emissions but overall the power was increased to 215bhp.

In order to underline the even more advanced engineering and performance of the 1993 version, the new Integrale was also given a cosmetic and functional face-lift including body coloured roof moldings, improved air intake grilles, an aluminum fuel cap and a red painted cylinder head. Inside the car got a new leather trimmed three spoke MOMO steering wheel and the standard Recaro seats were upholstered in Alcantara with diagonal stitching.

Like James Dean, the Integrale lived fast and died young. When Lancia turned off the life support in 1994, it too was at the height of its powers and there is no doubt nations wept.

Equipment

Adjustable yellow Momo leather steering wheel, Yellow gear knob, Black Alcantera Recaro seats, Turbo boost gauge, Oil pressure and temperature gauge, Electric windows, Air conditioning, Pioneer CD player, Factory remote central locking and alarm.

Exterior

The paint finish on this Delta is truly stunning and the yellow just looks so right with those muscular box arches and black trim. The body is 100% rust free and there are no marks or imperfections to report. The car has always been kept inside so none of the rubber or plastic trim has deteriorated from weather exposure and the rubber door seals are still amazingly soft.

Looking underneath it shows the same story, bright yellow paintwork with no signs of any body repairs, its completely corrosion free and spotlessly clean.

Interior

The condition of the inside easily matches the exterior, it even smells like a new car. The seats are in great condition with unmarked fabric and nice firm bolsters, there is a little bit of bobbling on the alcantara edges but otherwise perfect and the back seats look like they have never been sat in. All of the trim is undamaged and still retains its matt black textured finish, the headlining is spotless and the carpets are well protected by the original over mats. The only addition being a Pioneer CD player and some updated speakers neatly hidden under the rear parcel shelf.

Engine & Transmission

In keeping with the rest of the car the engine bay is immaculately presented with no road grime or any signs of corrosion or heat damage. The car has a first class service history and is in fine mechanical condition.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

The rally style alloys fill the arches perfectly and are all in excellent unmarked condition, shod in a matching set of Toyo Proxes tyres all of which have over 7mm of tread remaining. Looking through the wheels reveals discs and calipers that look like new, showing minimal signs of wear.

History File

This Evo 2 was first registered in Italy in March 1994 where it stayed until it was imported into the UK by its current owner in July 2010. The service history is 100% complete with a fully stamped book at the correct service intervals and a file full of all the service and parts invoices. The last service on the car was carried out in August 2012 at 48,573 miles.

The original Lancia document pack is also with the car and it contains all the owners manuals and service book.

The speedo reads 78,216 KM which equates to 48,601 miles
