Mileage: 46,560Model History
The BMW New Class was a compact line of coupes and saloons. A series that sits prominent in BMWs history as the ancestral grandfather to the 3 series series and a line that brought the company out of near bankruptcy in 1963.
Produced from 1968 to 1976 the 2002 Series is credited for inventing the compact sporting saloon, now hugely popular in various German, Japanese and American forms. These small 2-door saloons feature high performance engines, suspension and agile sports car features and are considered the final and best incarnation of the original 1500 saloon.
Equipment
Passenger mirror, Automatic gearbox, Radiomobile tape player
Exterior
This 2002 is finished in a lovely Agave green that really shows off the chrome trim and is very in keeping with the tan interior. The condition of the body is first class and looks like it did when it left the factory. It has had a little paintwork to get rid of any small chips and scratches but has never suffered any corrosion issues and as such remains free from any body repairs. The chrome work is in remarkable condition and none of the rubber seals have perished.
Interior
The interior is light and airy and remains in excellent condition with no cracks or discolouration to any of the trim. The seats show no signs of wear and other than a little wear to the drivers side the carpets are perfect. Everything works as it should and the boot looks like it has never had anything in it.
Engine & Transmission
This 2002 has only done 46,560 miles and has been in constant use its whole life and maintained to an excellent standard. The car fires into life on the first turn of the key and quickly settles to a smooth idle, the engine provides plenty of performance and is more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic. The auto box goes smoothly through the gears and makes for a very relaxed drive. The car has just had a check over and service at NBA Sports Cars and now has a clean bill of health.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The car retains its original 13" steel wheels with a perfect set of chrome hub caps, the tyres a are a matching set of Kelly's and only show a minimal amount of wear. The brakes work well and pull the car up in a nice straight line.
History File
This 2002 was first registered in April 1971 so has just recently had its 40th birthday! The original service book is still with the car and is fully stamped with all the services that have been done, almost all of them have been done at the same BMW specialist. The owners manual is also still with the car and there are two of the original 2002 Sales brochures. There are also 23 old MOT certificates to further verify the low mileage and a folder full of receipts detailing work that has been done over the years.
The original Elpico radio was updated to a Radiomobile tape player at some point but the original has been kept along with its operating guide. The spare keys are also present.
