Audi Quattro MB | £10,495
Mileage: 146,250Model History
The idea for a high performance four-wheel drive car was proposed by Audi's chassis engineer Jorg Bensinger in 1977, he teamed up with Walther Treser, director of pre-development to start work on developing an Audi 80 variant. The Quattro (Italian for 4) first featured a 2144cc 10v engine and received two more engine versions through its production life from 1980 to 1991. The Quattro received no major changes to its external appearance so many refer to each variant by using its engine code. The early 2144cc 10v cars being the 'WR' Quattro, the 2226cc 10v being the 'MB' Quattro and the final incarnation built from 1989 -1991 the 'RR' or '20v' Quattro.
First shown in 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show the Audi Quattro was the first car to mate a turbocharged engine to a four wheel drive system. It was designed and built to take advantage of the then recent rule change that allowed the use of four wheel drive in competition racing. The Quattro changed the face of rallying overnight and destroyed its two wheel drive competition time and time again to the point that many felt it was an unfair advantage! Over time as Audi won trophy after trophy with the Quattro and quattro four wheel drive system more and more governing bodies then started to ban it!

Exterior
This Quattro is finished in the classic Tornado Red and has a lovely deep glossy shine. The current owner is a true Audi enthusiast so when he purchased the car in 2005 he had some sympathetic paint work done to eradicate any stone chips and imperfections. There are some photographs in the history file showing the work that was carried out.
Interior
The interior of this Quattro has stood the test of time incredibly well and has no wear to any of the seats. All the electrics work as they should and the digital dash is fully functional. There are a set of tailor made Quattro mats fitted and the spare wheel and all the tools are present and correct in the boot.
Engine & Transmission
This Quattro comes with a fully documented service history so you can see that the car has been maintained to the highest standards throughout its life. The cambelt was changed less than 10k miles ago and you can see from the history that the gearbox has been reconditioned with a replacement clutch in 1999. The car pulls well through the gears with a very smooth power delivery.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
The alloy wheels have just been refurbished so are in immaculate condition and are shod in nearly new 225/50/15 Hankook Ventus tyres. The brake master cylinder has just been replaced and the front pads where replaced a few thousand miles ago.
History File
This Quattro was first registered in October 1989. In the early years the car was serviced at the Audi main dealer before being passed over to the Quattro Specialist 'A M Cars' in 1997, they carried out most of the service and maintenance work until 2005 when the car was serviced at the main dealer. The current owner purchased the car in 2005 and has had all the service work carried out by the well known 'White Cottage Quattros'.
The original service book has all the services entered and there is a huge history file that details everything that has been carried out at each service and any additional work done. Every MOT certificate has also been kept. There are also some photographs in the file showing the work that was carried out when the front of the car was stripped and repainted.
