Model History

The E24 6 series was produced from 1976-1989 and was the replacement for the CS and CSL E9 coupes. Like the E9 coupes the early bodies of the 6 were manufactured by Karmann until production was moved in house by BMW. It was the proven E12 5 series that provided the chassis and much of the mechanicals for the E24. Dubbed the 'Bavarian Ferrari' the 6 series was a high end two door luxury sports coupe.

The original 630 CS was carbureted and had a 4 speed gearbox. 1979 saw the end of the non-injection fuel systems and the introduction of computer fuel injection. The 635 CSi was not produced till 1978, a couple of years after the introduction of the E24 chassis.

Equipment

Alloy wheels, Power steering, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Multi function computer, Heated rear windscreen, Fog lights, N/S heated mirror, Headlight wash-wipe, Electric sunroof

Exterior

This E24 6 Series is finished in the very rare Biscay Blue which looks stunning in the studio. The current owner has had the car since 1985 and has kept the car garaged which has prevented the car from rusting in any of the usual weak spots, we have done some sympathetic paint work to eradicate any stone chips and minor imperfections. All of the chrome and plastic trim is in very good condition. The car is due to have its front spoiler stickers fitted.

Interior

Being an early car you will notice that its fitted with a slightly different dash with rather cool 70's looking dials, switches, a multi function computer with flashing green lights and door card more similar to the E9 coupe with the handles located under the arm rest. The leather has remained soft and supple with only minimal wear to the drivers seat, everything works as it should and the tool kit is still complete.

Engine & Transmission

This 635 has only covered 55,424 miles in its 31 year life so mechanically has had a very easy life. Its quite rare to get one of these with a manual box and it makes for a great drive with the powerful straight 6 engine. The engine ticks over smoothly and really pulls well, the gearbox still feels tight and slides easily through the gears.

Wheels, Tyres & Brakes

This 635 is fitted with the 14" BBS Mahle alloys which are all in very good condition and are shod in a matching set of new tyres. The brakes are powerful and pull the car up quickly in a straight line.

History File

This 635 was first registered in May 1980 and the current owner has had the car since 1985. He has only done a small amount of mileage in these years and has kept the car maintained to a high standard. The original document holder is still present with the owners manual, old MOT certificates and a spare key.
