BMW E46 M3 | £Sold
Mileage: 63,000Model History
First introduced in October 2000 the E46 M3 featured an all new 3.2L M-tuned engine. The engine had the highest specific naturally aspirated output ever made by BMW at the time producing 343bhp and 365 NM. Praised by press, the engine redlines at a high 8000 rpm and breaths its oxygen through 6 independent throttle bodies electronically operated resulting in immediate responsive from the high revving power unit.
Available as a couple or convertible the E46 was offered with a 6 speed manual Getrag gearbox or an optional SMG drivelogic gearbox (a standard 6 speed gearbox with an electohydraulically actuated clutch pedal) Like marmite, the SMG option was loved by some, hated by others (mainly the purists!)
Equipment
Individual model, Satellite Navigation, Harmon Kardon stereo, 19" alloy wheels, Bluetooth preperation, Tyre pressure sensors
Exterior
Spec'd with an exclusive BMW individual colour this M3 has never had any paintwork or body repairs so is completely original and near on flawless. The Estoril blue has a deep glossy shine and is free of any scratches or parking dents. There are a couple of light stone chips to the front that have been carefully touched in and are hardly noticeable.
Interior
The interior of this car has been kept exceptionally well and still has that new car feel inside. A common problem with the E46 M3 is the finish on the interior trim starts to discolour and crack around the door handles, the current owner has had all this trim replaced at BMW. The black nappa leather is still soft and supple with hardly any wear.
Engine & Transmission
The mechanical condition of this car is exactly as it should be. BMW did the all important running in service and have continued to service the car ever since. There should be no major expense for quite a while as the last service carried out was the Inspection 2 done at 60,500 miles. It has the desirable 6 speed manual box that is a real pleasure to use.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes
This M3 is fitted with optional 19" polished alloys that have recently benefited from a full refurbishment so there is none of the usual lacquer peel. They are shod with the correct Michelin Pilot tyres that show minimal wear. It has recently had the disks and pads replaced at BMW.
